This device is the centerpiece of Contraptions
A to Z. Visitors create their own percussion ensemble from six
horizontal rows of instruments-- dombeks, cowbells, cymbals, congas
and other multicultural instruments. The drumsticks are on chains
and pass in front of the instruments and mechanical switches that
visitors can turn on or off. In the on position the drumstick
is tripped, playing that particular instrument on that beat. A
single reset lever knocks all the switches to the off position,
giving the user a chance to create a completely new rhythm pattern.
